The Rage of the Sky

It is only in sorrow bad weather masters us; in joy we face the storm and defy it.
-Amelia Barr

I took this shot in Exmoor on an extremely windy day. I’ve always felt it to be very dark and morbid and I’m kind of fascinated by the grim atmosphere it produces. I didn’t think much of it at the time but after I submitted it to WeeklyShot I got some very good feedback so I decided to post it here. Even though it is a rather gloomy sight I sort of get inspired by that quote up there. As always, I’m eagerly waiting for your views.

As I said before, your best here. Little too much noise to my liking though.

I really like it. I agree with azhar that there may be a little much noise, but i do think it works. I love the clouds. What exacctly did you clone out?

Very nice shot. I think that I agree that there is a bit too much noise, but in general I like noise in the shot. For me, I wish that the upper part of the clouds wasn’t blown up like that.

The noise doesn’t offend me at all. I think that it is your best one posted yet…..the sky is great if I had any critisism that would be the ground being slightly dark…a little more detail would be nice but I am nit picking there….very good. Phil

Fantastic. I love the noise and I find this image to be very beautiful. I give it a 8/10.

For me a lovely shot. Good idea to turn this to monochrome, The sky was just right for you on this shot. The noise is okay, maybe you could have toned it down a tiny weeny bit, (It still works for me).

I would have definitely given this a pano crop. Would work better I think.

All in all, a very very good capture and good processing.

    Well done.

As my friend would say, “You Rock!!” Seriously, I love your stuff here! The desaturation and BW treatment are perfect, as is the framing and composition. Great shot!

Nice though I think that I would have preferred to see the tree in white is and not in silo!

maybe just a tad too dark, but a great shot nonetheless; i love that windswept lonely feel!

Agree with Suby that a pano crop would have been better.
